Pre Nup Cup
Well, it's been two years trying to get this event off the ground and when I checked the online registration to see how the sign ups were going I was shocked to see 20 people had signed up...awesome! For those of you not up to speed on what the pre-cup nup is all about...this event is all aboutthe hillarity of the situation; teams are comprised of a man and a woman and the format is 9 hole alternate shot. Play will begin at 5pm.
There's still spots available so sign up and I've seen the menu for the cocktail party following play and it looks great.
Kirkwood RecapThe 45thKirkwood ended this past Sunday with the local duo of Kyle Kirch and Dave Slayton taking home the champions trophy for the second year in a row.
128 players qualified on a Thursday for 8 flights with medalist honors going to the team of Andy Light & Andy Donatello (63), but the real story was the record heat. Thankfully Thursday was followed by a more temperate weekend and everyone remarked that this was the best weather the event had seen in recent memory.
Stowe CC members had a strong showing, most notably Peter Graves & Mark Poduje, as well as Bill Meckert and his partner, all qualified for the Championship Flight.
Sal Vespa and his partner Mike Flannigan qualified as the 5thseed in the Second Flight, but it was 16 year event-partners John Clark and Andrew Ziminsky that had a great week nearly qualifying for the Championship Flight and getting the 1stseed in the Second Flight, ultimately lost in the finals of the Second Flight.
Rich Mahoney and Artie Cuillo qualified as the 1stseed in the Third Flight, followed closely by John Ditoro & Mark Slocum.
Mark Sherwin and his partner Mark Berman lost in the third round to the eventual Fourth Flight Winners David Wykoff & Courtney Brown.
Chris Altadonna & Tony Sedutto qualified as the top seed in the Fifth Flight, but it was Bob Davison and his partner Danny Andrade who went the farthest, losing the final match in extra holes.
The only player to play in all 45 Kirkwood’s and longtime Tournament Host, Stu Baraw and his partner Joe Fedorsha qualified for the Sixth Flight.
The final flight was almost all SCC members: Ed Stahl and his partner Ken Straube, as well as Rick Philo and his partner Larry Hooker, Ralph Heath and his partner Harry Bonyum, Charlie Shaffer and his partner Adam Day, Paul Marchand and his partner James Luck, and the flight winning team of Paul Biron and his partner Roger Biron.
