Sign Up For The 2013 Match Play Championsip

Registration for the Match Play is due by 6/8. Matches begin the following week. This is a great event and currently there are 13 men signed up for the men’s division and 5 for the seniors & ladies.

Rule 2: For those of you unaware of what exactly "Match Play" is; Match Play, the traditional method for playing golf. Match Play is a scoring system in which a player, or team, earns a point for each hole in which they have bested their opponent; as opposed to medal play (stroke play) in which the total number of strokes is counted over one or more rounds. In professional golf, a small number of notable tournaments use the match play scoring system.

Since Match Play is not cumulative you get to use 100% of your handicap and a blow-up hole doesn't mean you are out of the match. It is a very enjoyable format to play and if you haven't tried it before it is worth registering for this year's championship.
Trivia Night

This Saturday is our second trivia of the season. If you missed last Saturday’s Member Social then you missed a taste test of the trivia night; and you missed learning what a “Howdah” is.

Gather in the Pub at 6PM and we will begin the trivia as close to 6:30 as possible. It should take no more than an hour to complete. The format is based on 18 holes and the questions equal the par of each hole. It’s going to be a blast…call the golf shop to RSVP.

Tommorow's partcipants will receive an extra special present for showing up.

Join Our Golf Conditioning Program

Pick up any golf magazine these days and you are sure to find something about “fitness for golf”. Recently, Men’s Health published “21 exercises to build power, boost flexibility and improve mechanics.” Golf Digest in November, 2012 published “Where do I start? These golf exercises will get you going,” written by a former fitness trainer for the PGA Tour. Sure, you’ve seen them, but have you made them a regular part of your routine? Stop for a minute and ask yourself these questions.

1. Am I tired after playing 18 holes of golf?
2. Do I experience any shoulder, neck or back pain either during or after my round?
3. Do I want to hit the ball farther and with more control?

If you answered “yes” to one or more of these questions, a regular program of exercise, including golf specific exercises, is what you need and we’ve made it easy.
