'Tis the Season

Spread Joy

Hello << Test First Name >>,

Happy Holidays! We hope you have all had a wonderful fall (winter is still a few weeks off according to the calendar at least). There are certainly a number of alpine enthusiasts among you and the Mountain is still ramping up for the season with more and more terrain every week. It was nice to see Gordon Johanson highlighted in the Reporter as one of Stowe's legendary pass holders. For those who migrate with the geese, we hope you are playing plenty of golf.

We had a alot of memorable finishes last year, but there is one in particular that did not get recognized; James Keravich tied the course record by firing a stellar 63 on a gorgeous September Sunday. John Ainger witnessed the lifetime best round and said it certainly could have been lower seeing that James didn't birdie any of the par fives on the back or #18. Congratulations Jame on your accomplishment.

Last summer was also the "year of the hole-in-one" and we lost count, but think we had five altogether; Congrats to Jack Morrissey, Paul Morris, Andy Vallance, but the most memorable were certainly Chris Mancini's during the club championship and John Ditoro's which was witnessed by Lionel Fay...seeing that Chooch has been witness to seven aces in the last seven years led John and Lynn Altadonna to do some tabulations; in any one year Lionel has a 0.167 (which is 100/600) of witnessing a hole in one. In order to witness a hole in one for two consecutive years, he must be successful in the first year (0.167), then be successful in the second year (0.167), or 0.167 X 0.167 = 0.028 (A little less than a three percent chance for even two consecutive years).  So extrapolate that to seven years and the answer is 0.167 times itself seven times which is 0.00000362 or about 3.6 per million. Chooch is available most days at 11:00am if you want to increase your odds:)

We are hoping to retroactively create a hole-in-one plaque to place in the clubhouse for members...let me know if you had one and the hole# and so that we can begin putting together a list.

Finally, we are thrilled to announce that plans are underway for our first annual Winter Member Junket. The dates are still up in the air, but we hope to be taking a jaunt to sunny Florida sometime mid-winter for 4 days of golf and defrosting. The details are getting sorted out, but if you are interested in the idea drop me an email.

Happy golfing, have a great holiday season, and stay warm!
