Hole in One!
Congrats to Tom "The Sniper" Ashworth for registering his second hole in one at Stowe
CC; his perfect shot came late on Tuesday during his Match Play match
against David Longfritz.....needless to say, he won the 10th hole!
Men's / Ladies Night Reminder
There has been record turn outs for men's night and we hope to make next
week even better...but we need all of you to participate!
Here's the gist; men's night is a 10 week, 9-hole league with varying
formats; odd weeks will be a better ball of partners, even weeks will
have more "twists"...but it's all about fun....at the end of the league
the top 10 play in a shoot-out for the title.
Play begins at 5PM; when you register put "early" in the notes field if you want to play before 5:30 or "late" if you can't play till after 5:30.
The Ladies play every Monday with a 5:30
shotgun. Formats alternate between competitive and fun, but the ring
leader, Sue Horton, assures me everyone is invited to participate.
You can register for the events online HERE. If you need help registering call the golf shop at 760-4652.

The Championship Flight Winners were Josie Hererra and Dana Cassidy from Vt National followed by Jerrine Gangas of Stowe CC and Carol West of CCV.
The 1st Flight winners Pam Fecteau and Anne Candon followed by Stowe's Barb Roberts and Michele Pressman.
We hope to continue to grow this event in the coming years.
Upper Tee Renovation
The new upper teeing area is open!
Some of you might not know but the upper tee of for the practice
facility was renovated last fall and Kirkwood Thursday saw its first
action. We are working on getting the member fobs for the ball machine
upgraded, but for the time being there are pyramids of practice balls in
place. Please remember the dress code applies for the practice facility
as well as the golf course.
Two simple adjustments to the way you practice will result in less wear
and faster recover of range tees. Be conscious of your divot pattern and
sand your divots following your practice session. Sand is provided in
containers behind the hitting area. The proper practice is to place your
ball at the back of your previous divot, taking only a small piece of
grass with each swing. The image below is a great example of the proper
Joe Kirkwood Invitational
The 47 annual Kirkwood Invitational wrapped up on Sunday 6/29 with 144
golfers participating in one of the longest running and popular
invitationals in the New England. Congratulations to Championship Flight
winners Scott Holbrook and Kevin Vandenberg who never faltered on way
to the the championship; Holbrook a past Champion had a formidable
partner in Vandenberg who's length off the tee impressed even some of
the longer hitters...his unofficial tally of eagles for the week was 5.
Hitting wedged into both #3 and #14 in the same round.
Stowe CC and SMC also had a strong showing with
many teams taking Flight honors. For a full look at the results, look
for this week's Stowe Reporter or click HERE.
Its About Time
The USGA has a process for rating the amount of time a "typical" round
of golf will take at its member courses; for SCC, the time par is 4
USGA Pace Rating Total Time 4:00 Hours
Pace of Play Suggestions
Play ready golf; tee off when ready – no honors, in the fairway – hit when ready.
Stay within one stroke of the group ahead of you.
Plan your shot while walking to your ball or while others are playing.
Walk directly to your golf ball; don’t follow others unless assisting in a search.
If riding, take several clubs to your ball so you won’t have to walk back to the cart.
If using yardage measuring devices share yardages within your group where necessary.
Be efficient with your pre-shot routine.
Take no more than two practice swings.
Be ready to play when it is your turn.
Line up your putt when others are putting and be ready to play when it is your turn.
Leave your clubs on the side of the putting green towards the next tee.
Leave the putting green promptly after holing out.
Record your scores on the next tee.
You are a part of the cure- call the pro shop when you find a slow group and we will immediately check the situation.
