It's Coming...

Our countdown to warm days and green grass Day light savings, getting home from work before dark and warm sunny days…these are a few of my favorite things; they are also all signs that the golf season is right around the corner.

There are some changes to the Membership offerings this summer. We have extended the age ranges for the Young Adult Memberships to ages 24-34, we extended the Junior Membership ages to age 23, and our Family Memberships now include both children and grandchildren up to the age of  23. Another new option that we hope you'll help get the word out about is the NEW Social Membership which includes unlimited use of the practice facility, a USGA GHIN card, and the ability to play in our 9 hole Member Socials as well as either the 9 hole Men's or Ladies Leagues. This is a great option for those people who have time constraints or enjoy practicing to their hearts content. Click HERE to download the application.

Club Operations Among the topics discussed during the first SGA Board meeting was how to best communicate with members and patrons. The result was the development of a new Communications Plan that not only highlights the “who, what, where, when & why” questions, but also examines our key messages and the strategies to help us meet our objectives. The main objective is member satisfaction through increased engagement. With increased engagement comes enhanced awareness; when our members are more aware, we expect elevated participation in club events and greater overall satisfaction. The list below includes both online resources and materials you can expect to find there. I suggest you bookmark the links for easy reference.

Masters Party

Masters Party Please join us at the Alpine Club, Stowe Mountain Club's temporary winter home, for the final round of the Masters. Enjoy Augusta themed snacks and have a sneek-peek of some of the golf fashions we will be featuring this summer at both courses.

Sunday will also be your chance to wish Martha Shepherd a fond farewell as she departs for her new life endeavors in Maine.

Maintenance Matters

From the Ground up This winter the Stowe Mountain Resort Golf Department made some changes within the golf maintenance team. Golf Course Superintendent Scott Rossi shifted from Stowe Country Club to Stowe Mountain Cub, and Golf Course Superintendent Mark Finch made the reverse move to assume the duties at Stowe Country Club.
Mark is a University of Vermont graduate who began his professional turf management career as the assistant superintendent at Lake Sunapee Country Club in New Hampshire. He was hired at Stowe Mountain Club in 2009 as the assistant superintendent and promoted to superintendent in 2014. Mark’s strong work ethic and attention to detail is well suited for his new position.  Dave Merritt, former assistant superintendent, accepted the position as Head Golf Course Superintendent at Ryder Brook Golf Course in Morrisville. Join us in congratulating Dave and wishing him the best of luck in his new position.
