Monday Marks our Annual Memorial Day Scramble.

This event is an opportunity to celebrate the start of the summer as well as reflect on those who made the ultimate sacrifice fighting for our freedom. The event is open to Members & Non-Members. Members may register on Event-Net by logging in with your first initial and last name and the password is Stowe15. If you have any issues call the golf shop at 802.760.GOLF.

File this under the “These Guys/Gals are Good!” - Stowe’s golf professionals had quite a showing at the New England PGA Pro-Assistant Tournament on Monday, May 18th held at the Bay Club at Mattapoisett. Ron Philo and Sue Horton took home the top spot with the score of -9 under par 62, followed by the team of Ron Philo and David Jankowski who shot -8 under par. Yes, you read that right…Ron won both first and second place…not bad!

Many of you that had not upgraded your membership to include a cart have been doing so, but I am sure there are some who aren’t aware that this still has to be taken care of. Please check with the golf shop if you are unsure.

Also, please make sure you check in to the golf shop prior to playing so that we may check you in to the computer. It is important that we record each of your rounds as it impacts in our operating schedules and future budgets.

Retail’s Details

Dave Maxwell is heading up the retail for both golf clubs this summer and he has asked me to remind you all about special orders and tell you about the new lines that are arriving daily – GG Blue an active ladies apparel line, Haus of Grey which is not a Game of Thrones family, but an upscale luxury ladies line. We are also excited to announce our own private label - Stowe Collection. This innovative line of apparel is found at over 50 of the top 100 courses including Augusta, Pebble Beach, and Silverado. What makes this product so unique is that on top of the wide selection we will have in the shop, you will be able to order logo’d merchandise from our website which will include their vast selection of garments including accessories, foul weather gear, merino sweaters, woven dress shirts, and much more.

TNT is Dynamite

The Tuesday Night Twilight League is celebrating its 20th anniversary this summer and space is filling up fast. This league is all about FUN! 35, two person teams compete in a 9 hole modified points scoring which means it is fully handicapped; perfect for the less skilled, or novice golfers as well as anyone looking to add a little spark in their week. With a full field, over $500 in prizes are awarded each and every week! This is by-far the best paying event that is held at Stowe CC. Members and resort employees pay only $150; non-members $250. Play begins at 3:00pm and we will have a course marshall on each week. Registration forms are available in the golf shop.

From the Fringe…Maintenance Update

Golf Course Superintendent Mark Finch has asked that we inform you all that the small parts on a handful of greens recovering from winter kill have been over seeded. Please refrain from walking or playing from those areas. Play these areas as Ground Under Repair.

The maintenance staff also installed our new ½ way house on the 5th hole which we will be using shortly.

Welcome to the Golf Season
Stowe Country Club is open for play. The course came through the winter with minimal issues. Thanks to the great fall preparation things are ahead of typical early May conditions. Fall work included completion of the drainage project at #9. This project was the result of a capital infusion that allowed for the purchase of a trencher.Using this new tool, slit drainage was installed at #9 fairway and connects into the #18 fairway project done in early fall. The great stretch of summer-like weather has also helped, but the acquisition of this tool and the manner in which it was put to use by Head of Golf Maintenance Kevin Komer and his team including Scott Rossi and Mark Finch was a real accomplishment that is paying dividends this spring.
The initial drainage project began mid-summer in 2013 on whole #7. The maintenance department threw everything they had at that problem to amazing results…there has not been a plugged ball on #7 since. Later that fall lateral…
