Smugg's Jug Update

The annual Member-Member tournament was held Saturday and over 60 members participated...double the previous year's total.

As many of you commented, the weather 'could've been worse,' but the soft drizzle never amounted to much; there were even some brave souls still wearing shorts.

The competition was divided into three flights; a Women's, Men's and Mixed. The Women's flight was won by heavy hitting team of Joanne Priestley & Jena Wood, who shot a 81, besting the 2nd place team of Michele Pressman & Deb Lev who fired a best ball 100.

The Mixed Division saw the father daughter team of Mark Sherwin and Baily Sherwin take the top honor with a very solid 79, followed husband wife duo of Debbie & Steve Clark.

The Men's Division was won by the team of Greg Gramas and Chris Mancini who shot an impressive 6 under par 66, besting their nearest competitors, Tyler Mumley & Scott Hartigan by 4 strokes.

SHOOTOUT RESULTS It's official, Mark Plummer is the 2016 Men's Night Shootout Champion! He used up nearly all of his 9 lives enroute to victory, finishing off Chris Cronin in a final hole chip-off. Congrats, Mark!

Forever the King

One of the very first golf books I ever read was My Game and Yours by Arnold Palmer. I was maybe 11 or 12 and just getting into the game of golf, but I recall thumbing through the book like it was yesterday. In the book "The King" shares
several fundamental lessons that he learned from his father, "Deacon" Palmer, who also happened to be the head professional and green keeper at Latrobe (Pa.)
Country Club, and Arnold's first and only swing coach. of those lessons the three that still resonate with me today are:

1) Never change your grip
2) Keep your head still
3) Hit the ball hard
